bEATitude Diet - week 8

RESULTS: DOWN 19 lbs

State of sobriety = 56 days.
Weight as of 7am 03/28/05 = 221 lbs.
Loss for week ended 03/28/05 => 223-221 = 2 lbs.
Total diet loss 8 weeks to date => 240-221 = 19 lbs.
Average weekly loss over 8 weeks = 2.4 lbs per week.

I made it thru Easter!!! Just one plate of ham, potatoes, beans, corn, bread, fruit, and the first harvest from our garden, a green salad. NO ANGEL FOOD CAKE !!! ouch !!!. That's 56 days without a single dessert. Lots of work in the garden but I need to get a regular exercise plan going.

ALLIANCE WITH GUILT

I have an alliance with guilt,
An accord of mutual protection,
I will defend guilt,
As guilt defends me.

We are a coalition of shame,
United,
A Fraternity of Fortification,
In An Impenetrable compact.

Merciless Truth assaults my secrets,

I have lost the equivalent volume if two gallons of milk.

wow. I had been carrying two big jugs around with me.

the body is 90% water.
one gallon of water weighs 8.33 lbs.
17 / 8.33 = 2.04

suzi was here this week & jj stopped by as well. lots of stress. spent the day out fri & sat but kept to it !!!

RESULTS: DOWN 15 lbs

State of sobriety = 42 days.
Weight as of 7am 03/14/05 = 225 lbs.
Loss for week ended 03/14/05 => 227-225 = 2 lbs.
Total diet loss 6 weeks to date => 240-225 = 15 lbs.
Average weekly loss over 6 weeks = 2.5 lbs per week.

i seem to have found a level at which i will lose 2 lbs per week with no regular aerobic exercise. i did some extensive gardening & house work where i worked up a little sweat. but i have yet to consistently walk or use the stationary bike. dinner out this week consisted of a wonderful prime rib, mashed potatoes & veggies on Sunday in palm springs with the inlaws. yum !

bEATitude diet - week 5

RESULTS: DOWN 13 lbs

state of sobriety = 35 days. weight as of 7am 03/07/05 = 227 lbs. loss for week ended 03/07/05 => 229-227 = 2lbs. total diet loss 5 weeks to date => 240-227 = 13 lbs. average weekly loss over 5 weeks = 2.6 lbs per week.

i reduced my breakfast intake by eating oatmeal (100 cal) w/o milk & a banana; soup for lunch (180 cal) plus apple, no sandwich. this was a reduction of about 200-400 cal per day. i had to remove all nuts to the garage to prevent snacking. i did some exercise with walking biking and gardening.

Does Evil Exist? (A true story)

The university professor challenged his studentswith this question. "Did God create everything that exists? A student bravely replied "yes, He did!" "God created everything? The professor asked. "Yes sir", the student replied.

The professor answered, "If God created everything,then God created evil, since evil exists and according to the principle that our works define who we are then God is evil". The student became quiet before such an answer. The professor was quite pleased with himself and boasted to the students that he had proven once more that the Christian faith was a myth.

Another student raised his hand and said, "Can I ask you a question, professor?" "Of course", replied the professor. The student stood up and asked, "Professor, does cold exist?" "What kind of question is this? Of course it exists. Have you never been cold?" The other students snickered at the young man's question. The young man replied, "In fact, sir, cold does not exist. According to the laws of physics, what we consider cold is in reality the absence of heat. Everybody or object is susceptible to study when it has or transmits energy, and heat is what makes a body or matter have or transmit energy. Absolute zero (- 460 degrees F) is the total absence of heat;all matter becomes inert and incapable of reaction at that temperature. Cold does not exist. We have created this word to describe how we feel if we have no heat.

The student continued. "Professor, does darkness exist?" The professor responded, "Of course it does". The student replied, "Once again you are wrong sir, darkness does not exist either. Darkness is in reality the absence of light. Light we can study,but not darkness. In fact we can use Newton's prism to break white light into many colors and study the various wave lengths of each color. You cannot measure darkness. A simple ray of light can break into a world of darkness and illuminate it. How can you know how dark a certain space is? You measure the amount of light present. Isn't this correct? Darkness is a term used by man to describe what happens when there is no light present."

Finally the young man asked the professor. "Sir,does evil exist?" Now uncertain, the professor responded, "Of courseas I have already said. We see it every day. It is in the daily example of man's inhumanity to man It is in the multitude of crime and violence everywhere in the world. These manifestations are nothing else but evil." To this the student replied, "Evil does not exist sir, or at least it does not exist unto itself. Evil is simply the absence of God. It is just like darkness and cold, a word that man has created to describe the absence of God. God did not create evil. Evil is not like faith, or love that exist just as does light and heat. Evil is the result of what happens when man does not have God's love present in his heart. It's like the cold that comes when there is no heat or the darkness that comes when there is no light."

The professor sat down.
